Woodsure is a not-for-profit organisation wholly owned and subsidised by HETAS.
DEFRA appointed HETAS & Woodsure to run the ready to burn fuel certification scheme.
To be awarded a Woodsure certification a suppliers firewood has to be under 20% moisture content.
This includes annual inspections with pin metre readings at time of inspection alongside firewood samples that are taken away and oven tested in a lab environment to check the Wet basis moisture content.
(Baxter logs report for 2021/22/23 below)
Firewood naturally air-seasoned like we do at Baxter logs or forced dried in kilns to under 20% moisture content produces less smoke when burnt compared to firewood with a moisture content over 20%.
Woodsure Ready to burn is the UK's only woodfuel quality assurance scheme.
All Firewood Logs sold in quantities under 2m3 have to be certified ready to burn under the Air Quality (Domestic Solid Fuels Standards) (England) Regualations 2020.
A List of approved suppliers is on the Woodsure ready to burn website.
